Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a powerful tool that can be used to make positive changes in your life. The mind has a subconscious part and a conscious part. During hypnosis the hypnotherapist is able to communicate directly to the subconscious mind, allowing positive suggestions to be put into place and become effective during the normal waking state. The subconscious mind may be likened to the software which makes a computer work. We need the correct software running in order for our internal computer to work properly. If there are some glitches in our programming, then hypnosis can help to fix those.

You may already know that your conscious mind is that part of yourself that thinks it is in charge and makes the decisions about what time you are going out to lunch etc. However, your subconscious mind is behind the scenes pulling all your strings.

It doesn’t really matter that you have made your lunch date for 2.00pm, if at midday your subconscious mind is telling you how hungry you are NOW, and the digestive juices are circulating, your stomach is rumbling… just one biscuit won’t hurt your meal, will it?

It is your subconscious mind that regulates such things as your heartbeat…. It knows that if you exercise your heart needs to beat faster in order for the blood to be circulated with more oxygen. It also knows that when you stop exercising your heart needs to slow down again and your body adjust to normal conditions. These things are done automatically and you don’t even have to think about them.

The same holds true with many of our habits… they are subconscious or unconscious… when we light a cigarette, many times we just reach for the packet subconsciously, the same as when we bite our nails or give ourselves “self talk” in negative and critical ways. Everybody responds subconsciously to the many different bits of information and the many situations we find ourselves in during everyday life. You can take charge of the things you want to change and make real, lasting and beneficial improvements to your internal software, that runs 24/7 365 days a year.

MY BACKGROUND

I have had many life experiences which have helped me to understand the myriad of situations people find themselves in. After many years of working and studying in the complementary health field, I became aware that whilst I could help a lot of people with a lot of issues there were some whose problems or situations needed a different approach. This led me to explore different avenues of therapy, including hypnotherapy.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT IN A HYPNOTHERAPY SESSION?

You may consider the hypnotherapy to start the moment you walk through my door. Through a series of questions and answers I will gain an insight into your problems and be able to tailor the hypnotherapy to suit your specific needs. From the client’s point of view it is essential that you can be 100% honest, with a willingness to explore the root of the situation you need clearing.

Many times throughout the day we all go into natural states of relaxation and trance – this may be while we are watching television, driving on a long journey, becoming engrossed in a book, daydreaming, or even stepping into a lift. Hypnosis is a controlled state of relaxation and is totally natural.

During the experience of hypnosis you will be able to hear, speak, move and come back to your ordinary state at any time.

WILL I LOSE CONTROL IF I AM HYPNOTISED?

No, you are always in control and aware of what is happening.

WHAT KIND OF CONDITIONS CAN HYPNOSIS HELP WITH?

Hypnosis can help with a variety of circumstances, for example:
  • Weight Loss
  • Smoking
  • Phobias
  • Public Speaking
  • Confidence
  • Bed wetting
  • Pain management
  • Self esteem
  • Success
HOW DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?

Suggestions are given during hypnosis which can help to change your life. If, for example, you were having a session on smoking cessation, suggestions would be given that would go directly to your subconscious mind to make it easier for you to achieve your desired outcome. In order for the suggestions to get to the subconscious mind, the hypnotherapist has to otherwise engage the conscious mind. This can be done by a number of techniques and one of the most common ones is relaxation, whereby the conscious mind can go its own way, dreaming, while the subconscious mind, which is always paying attention, can listen without interference. It is because the conscious mind can be very critical that beneficial statements do not always get through to our inner selves. Who said, it is always easier to believe the bad things? We constantly self talk and much of what we say to ourselves is a critical evaluation of who we are, what we look like, how we performed. Take away this niggling voice telling us how fat we are, how silly we look, how incompetent we are, etc, and you can make the most wonderful, positive changes possible.

Remember, your success is my success!
