Hopi Ear Treatments

Have you ever wondered what is inside your ears? Maybe absentmindedly pulling out bits of wax and thinking “yuck, I bet there is more of that in there that I can’t reach?” Well, if that is the case a Hopi ear treatment is just what you have been waiting for.

Also known as Thermal Auricular Therapy (TAT) this treatment is very helpful in relieving symptoms of congestion, flu, sore throats, excessive or compacted ear wax, sinus problems, vertigo.
A special candle is inserted into the ear canal. This is not a wax candle but is made of 100% pesticide free cotton, beeswax, beta-carotene and a variety of herbs. The candle acts in a chimney-like manner, gently drawing up any wax or debris from the ear canal into the base of the candle, where it is trapped by a special filter. The herbal smoke also gently massages the tympanic membrane as the candle burns down.

*My mum used to suffer from vertigo but since having a Hopi ear treatment once every six months, she has not had an occurrence in the last three years.

What to expect in a treatment:
The client will lay on their side on my therapy couch. Ambient music will play in the background, making them feel relaxed and at ease. Each ear is treated in turn. The candle is gently inserted into the ear canal, which is not painful. The client will hear the fizzing noise of the candle as it slowly burns, drawing up debris, wax and dust particles etc from the ear canal. A warm, relaxing feeling will be experienced, possibly to the extent of falling asleep during the treatment.
Once both ears have been treated, the Practitioner will then perform a sinus drain on the client. This is a very pleasant facial that concentrates on the sinuses, where there can be a build-up of fluid and congestion that causes pain and pressure. For an added feeling of wellbeing the sinus drain will culminate with a few minutes of head massage to the front of the head. The price of this treatment is £20, this is inclusive of the price of the candles.
